Jordan SommersSH West Hollywood
Will Clarke from Altitude Entertainment said of Jordan’s House Shorts treatment:
This is a romantic fantasy with heart, the photo booth was used often in the submissions but nothing as bright, breezy and playful as this.
Tell us a little about yourself…
I’ve been fortunate enough to make a living as a screenwriter and as a music consultant in the past. I’ve also produced some television. I’ve enjoyed it all but I’m very excited about directing. This is my first time.
When and why did you get into film?
The first film I remember seeing was The Shining when I was seven years old. It scarred me for life! The indelible images… the haunting score. But most of all – the magical, the supernatural elements of the story really impressed me. I wanted to tell fantastical stories like that. Well, like that and my sensibility is also rooted in my other biggest influence – Steve Martin.
What’s your short film about and where did you get the inspiration from?
My film… is about the fine line between fantasy and reality and how the difference isn’t always so easy to identify.
Which scene are you most looking forward to filming/which scene will be the hardest to film?
The Bonnie & Clyde sequence because it is… out there and same because of the precise timing of the blocking for the actors and the camera.
What would it mean to you to win House Shorts 2012?
On a professional level, I’m grateful merely to have been selected, as one of the ten to make a film given how many people in the industry will see it. If I win I would take that to mean I touched people in some memorable way and that’s the greatest personal reward – connection.
